Valentin Dudkevich
Born in 1943.
He graduated from Belarusian State Choreographic College as a ballet dancer, Belarusian State Theatre and Art Institute in the field of Fine Art History and Theory, as well as post-graduate course of the Ethnography and Folklore Institute of Academy of Sciences of Belarus. He is qualified art specialist in the field of fine art in the field of ethnography and folklore. He worked on probation in Moscow and Paris. Since 1986 he has been at the head of the ensemble.
Folklore art is the main source of creative work for Valentin Dudkevich. He widely uses finds of the explorers of the Belarusian folklore, cooperates closely with a folklore laboratory of Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts. He is interested in world history and culture.
He is a choreographer of a wide genre range. Among his works there are humorous pictures from the people's life, such as "Krutuha", "Quadrille on stools", as well as inspired lyric turns: "Areli"("The Swing"), "Ternitsa", "Spev dubrav"("A Song of Oak Woods"), "Kohanochka" ("Beloved") and others.
Valentin Dudkevich is inclined in his artistic work to create choreographic turns of a notional nature with a dramaturgic development. A choreographic fantasy on historical subjects "The Song about Bison" has been produced in this course. It is dedicated to great historic figures and events in the history of formation of the Belarusian state.
The modern ethno style is one of the recent passions of the choreographer. Ballet based on a fairy tail "Lyanok"("Flax") is the first signs in the development of this direction.
For twenty years of work in the ensemble Valentin Dudkevich has formed a highly professional troupe of graduates of the chorographic college, republican art schools, Belarusian University of Culture and Belarusian State Conservatory.
The ensemble under his guidance has repeatedly toured in the world, always successfully participated in the international art festivals.
